How it started...

1919 Two farsighted designer engineers at Blohm & Voss in Hamburg started their own business in 1919 in order to start production of ship installation equipment made of brass. At that time, all products made of brass were still being cast at the shipyards themselves by a time-consuming process, so for Wilhelm Hoppmann and Hermann Mulsow it was simply a logical step to manufacture these units at low cost and with high precision by series production.

After just a few years, the good insulating capability of plastics was recognised, and as early as 1929 a start was made on the production of parts made of Duroplast.

In World War II, the company restricted its activities solely to the manufacture of plastic parts, and so after the war the painful task of searching for and re-activating most of the tooling, or of purchasing it anew, had to be performed.

1954, Peter Hoppmann took over the business. Later on his wife Karin also joined the management.

1960, Peter Hoppmann launches the KA 12 damp-proof junction box on the market, the legendary "WISKA Box".
